Properties: colourless to white waxy solid flakes with a waxy odour.
Melting point: 35~39°C (literature value), also stated as 37.8°C or 38°C.
Boiling point: 263.2°C (some literature values are 287°C or 289°C).
Flash Point: 141°C (some literature values are 145°C).
Autoignition point or ignition temperature: 240°C.
Density: 0.823g/mL at 25°C (also has a literature value of 0.8346g/mL at 38/4°C).
Solubility: soluble in ether, soluble in ethanol, insoluble in water. solubility in water at 20°C is 0.02%.
Chemical Properties
Has the chemical reactivity of senior primary alcohol.
Avoid contact with oxidising agents, acid chlorides, and acid anhydrides.
Uses
It is the main raw material for the production of sodium tetradecyl polyoxyethylene ether succinate monosulfate and sodium tetradecyl polypropylene ether succinate monoester sulfonate.
