Triisopropanolamine is an organic compound with the structural formula [CH3CH(OH)CH2]3N. It is a white crystalline solid, weakly basic and flammable. Because of the good colouring stability of the salt generated by triisopropanolamine and long-chain fatty acids, it is used as an emulsifier [1], an additive for zinc salts, an antirust agent for ferrous metals, a cutting coolant, a cement reinforcing agent, a softening agent for dyeing and printing, an absorbent for gases and an antioxidant, and as an additive in soaps, detergents and cosmetics [2], and as a raw material for pharmaceuticals and a solvent for photographic developer solutions.
